The Palm Beach Zoo has announced that one of its male Malayan tigers will be transferred to a New Orleans zoo as part of its breeding program.

The zoo is not releasing the name of the tiger; however the zoo says it is not the tiger that killed keeper Stacey Konwiser on April 15th.

“We started discussions in February of 2016 about a transfer of the male tiger to Audubon Zoo. This transfer follows the Species Survival Plan recommendation from several months ago,” Andrew Aiken, Zoo president and CEO said in a statement.

The Palm Beach Zoo will now be home to three Malayan tigers including a female named Berapi.
