Meet the 'Buuz Crew' - A typical group of college students who were just looking to save a buck.
"As soon as we turned 21, we were all going downtown, and we realized that we we're spending a lot of money," says Ben Colabella, a Palm Beach Atlantic University student, who helped to develop the app.
That realization gave birth to innovation.
"Maybe we could build a website or some sort of software that could allow us to partner with bars," Colabella says.
That's how Buuz was born.
The idea is that people will download the app, pick your bar, show the bartender the special for that bar, and your discounted drink is served.
The specials aren't unlimited: you can only redeem one per bar and only once every 24 hours.
"It's fun, it's easy to use, really simple to download, the process is so simple," says PBAU student Evan Berlanti. "I think that's what's gonna make it a success."
It's would be a major success for this crew, which goes to PBAU full-time - studying anything but computer science and the service industry.
Like so many of us, they are looking for ways to make dollars stretch - and possibly sometime soon - multiply
"We're actually seeing this becomming a big thing, blowing up into cities, and even just the whole nation," says Grant Yu, who also helped to develop the app.
Still in it's infancy stage, the Buuz Crew already has 11 business partners in our area, including Lynoras restaurant in downtown West Palm Beach.
"I believe that their app will go national, I really do, I think it's a fantastic idea," says Robert McGrath, the general manager of Lynora's
" I think it'll bring business in, and it'll give people an opportunity to try a place they may not have tried before."
Which could be a win-win - as these guys are trying to create what they hope to be the Uber app of bars and restaurants...
To think, it all started with a drink.
The developers are still working on rolling this app out to Android users.
