A Palm Springs police officer is hospitalized after his police cruiser was struck from behind by a suspected DUI driver.
The incident happened Friday at approximately 11:30 p.m. Friday in the 4100 block of Forest Hill Blvd.
According to a Palm Springs Police Department news release, Officer Toussaint stopped a car during a traffic enforcement and was walking back to his vehicle when the offending driver slammed into his police car, throwing the officer several feet down the road.
Officers responding to the scene suspect that the offending driver was under the influence.
Toussaint suffered multiple serious injuries and remains hospitalized.
The Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office is investigating the incident.
