Just before the new year, a shooting in suburban West Palm Beach sent a man to the hospital Thursday night.
Palm Beach County Fire Rescue confirms a man was shot on Pipers Cay Drive, a community near Summit Boulevard and Haverhill Road.
Arriving units found the injured man and transported him to a local hospital by Trauma Hawk.
Witnesses said they heard gunshots just as neighbors set off fireworks.
“I was standing here and some of the neighbors were doing fireworks and a black guy just started shooting. I heard probably four or five shots and I came over there and asked if the people were OK, and I saw a guy on the ground that got shot in the leg," said one witness.
The victim's name, condition or a possible suspect have not been released.
