Rain or shine, West Palm Beach city officials say the Sandi Tree will be lit during the city's annual tree lighting celebration Thursday night.
Some parts of the tree, the more detailed designs, may stay covered tonight with plastic.
That is to protect it from getting wet in case of rain.
Parts of Sandi Tree crumbled and cracked from last night's storms, but sculptors repaired as much as they could this morning.
Sculptors say the packed sand can only hold so much water before it starts to breaks apart.
City officials are confident the turn out will still be a success.
"Rain or shine, the Sandi tree will be lit tonight. We have moved it up a little bit, so we are planning on lighting the tree first, so everybody if you could get out here early. Right around 6, 6:15, we plan on lighting the tree," said West Palm Beach Community Event Supervisor Angela Poco.
Santa will attend but is being moved inside the pavilion from 6 to 9.
Tonight's musical acts have been scaled back because of potential storms.
Bobby McClendon will take the stage right after the tree lighting, but Emily Brooks and Parmalee have been canceled. The city is hoping to bring them back at a later date.
