Police say criminals are becoming more sophisticated when stealing the license plate off the back of your car. Law enforcement agencies throughout Palm Beach County and Martin County are teaming up to tap the brakes on this kind of crime.
“So we would ask that people pay attention casually glance down at your tag every once in a while making sure it’s your tag and then do everything you can to frustrate someone from taking it off,” said Sheriff Snyder.
Sheriff Snyder recommends using anti-theft screws to fasten your plate to your car. You can find them online or in stores for less than $5.
“We are getting a whole class of criminal here in Martin County that is traveling from county to county and they come into our county with a tag that they’ve stolen but that has not been reported,” said Sheriff Snyder.
