A lawyer representing a Lantana police officer said she is close to reaching a deal with prosecutors to avoid sending the case to a trial.
Officer Christopher Decker faces charges of distributing obscene material and using a two-way device to facilitate a felony.
The details of any potential plea deal will not become public until next month when Decker is due back in court to agree to the terms.
According to court records, a woman accused Decker of arguing with her. In the course of the argument, the woman said Decker sent a pornographic image to the woman’s 16-year-old twin boys.
The Lantana police chief confirmed Decker is on unpaid administrative leave pending the outcome of this case.
His next court date is May 19.
