Hundreds of summer interns at Florida Power and Light rolled up their sleeves Thursday to get a school ready to welcome students back.

More than 200 interns spent the day painting, landscaping and sprucing up U. B. Kinsey/Palmview Elementary School of the Arts in West Palm Beach.

The activity is part of FPL’s annual intern 'Power to Care' day.

"It's really good that an elementary school in the heart of my community is being selected to be beautified, when so many schools around are having problems with their campus, in the underprivileged communities that we have today,” said Joseph Jones who is a student at Florida A&M.

Throughout the year, hundreds of FPL employees volunteer for projects throughout the company's service area.

This project allows the summer interns to experience the company's core values of doing the right thing and giving back to the communities they serve.
