An emotional night at Palm Beach International. 82 war veterans taking their honor flight Saturday night with hundreds welcoming them home.

79 World War II veterans along with three Korean War veterans arrived to the proper welcome home they never received more than sixty years ago.

Saints Go Marching playing in the background. Red, white, and blue all over along with hundreds of smiles.

The perfect welcome home.

Ruth Mernit anxiously awaited the arrival of her husband Dan, a World War II veteran. His first time on the Honor Flight to our nation's capital. A trip Ruth says he has been waiting to go on for years.

"Couldn't believe it. He just wanted to be well," says Mernit.

Dan is one of 83 veterans from South Florida in Washington, D.C. visiting memorials built to commemorate their service. A day of reflection.

Although maybe the most important part is receiving the proper welcome home.

"Now we're trying to show our gratitude to the veterans," says Joy Vestal.

An emotional homecoming for everyone. Plenty of tears and memories shared.

"Just wonderful, wonderful trip. Everybody on the other side, you know that ,went to see. Just great. Everything is exactly what you expect it to be," says Dan Mernit.

"Seventh Heaven," says Ruth Mernit.

A special moment well deserved more than sixty years later.
