Investigators from the Dominican Republic have come to South Florida in search of clues in connection with the disappearance of a West Palm Beach surfer.

Darryl Fornatora went missing during a trip to the country more than two months ago, and his family is desperate for answers.

Dominican Republic investigators said Fornatora's friend, Matt Rigby, who went with him on the trip, canceled an interview with them and hired an attorney.

Investigators told Fornatora’s parents that Rigby canceled the interview by text message at the last minute.

“It leaves a very big question, a big question in my mind,” said Nancy Fornatora, the missing surfer’s mother.

Fornatora’s wallet was found last month after it came ashore in the Dominican Republic, but so far there have been no other signs of him.
