WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. - Additional charges have been filed against the man accused of killing an MMA fighter.

Wednesday morning, Dennis Wright appeared before a Palm Beach County Judge. He was originally charged with DUI manslaughter. Today in court, the judge added a new charge of vehicular homicide.

Investigators say he killed MMA fighter Jordan Parsons.

In May, Delray Beach Police detectives say Wright was traveling 116 miles per hour down Federal Highway when he struck Parsons. Parsons died a few days later. Investigators say Wright left the scene of the crime.

Parsons' family was in the courtroom and it was the first time they had seen their son's accused killer in person; they traveled from Atlanta to be there.

"It was harder to know that he was actually in the building than to see him," Anna Morsaw, the victim's mother said.

This week the family announced they are suing Wright, his family and the bar where he was before the crash.

"I don't understand how someone with that bad of a record could still be behind the wheel," Morsaw said. "We want him to be in jail to know that you can't just make any decision in your life and not pay the consequences."

The family also says Wright was negligent.  Wright's license had also been suspended six times.
