Several fire crews worked overnight to put out a fire at the Solid Waste Authority in West Palm Beach.
Palm Beach County Fire Rescue Capt. Albert Borroto said crews responded at 1:12 a.m. at the plant located at 6501 North Jog Rd.
First-arriving crews reported nothing showing and were directed to a storage building by workers where firefighters entered to investigate.
Firefighters found a hopper on the 4th level of the building that had a small fire inside and the building sprinklers activated.
The fire happened in a conveyor system that was moving waste into the storage building, according to the SWA. Crews extinguished the fire and contained it before it spread to other parts of the building.
The Solid Waste Authority said no one was injured and it is still receiving waste. It expects both boilers will be fully operational by Wednesday afternoon.
