If you are set on sending your child to charter schools, Palm Beach County’s school superintendent says just wait.
Dr. Robert Avossa had a frank conversation with WPTV about the role of charter schools and the problems he’d like them to solve.

“I believe charter schools do have a place in the portfolio of schools," Avossa said. "Now, I think it’s a little disingenuous if a charter school is right next to an elementary school that’s an 'A' school in the suburbs. I’m not sure what problem they’re trying to solve.”
Avossa said he welcomes charter schools' help in issues they cannot solve, like working with at-risk children or ones with special needs.
In Palm Beach County, there are 52 charter schools in operation. Four of them are new and there are eight applicants currently under review.
