The Palm Beach County Film Festival makes its premiere Wednesday night - giving movie buffs plenty of reasons to keep their eyes glued to the silver screen.

This year the festival is under new management - and attendees can expect a few changes.

The 9 day festival will include 172 films.

This year, you can expect to see more short films and more foreign films.

Also new this year - a horror category.

Organizers say there is a big emphasis on getting the younger generation involved in this year's film festival - as they are working with G Star School of the Arts.

The hope is that this festival gives those with the talent to shine - both young and old - a whole new platform.

"We want to see the next Spielberg coming out of this film festival," says Jeff Davis - 2016 film festival president. "And there are distributors from all over the United States - major corporations, major studios - and they're here. We're looking for them to pick up these films."

"It may be the next Star Wars," he adds.

The festival runs now through April 14th.
