Spend five minutes with Dan Clein, and before you know it, you will be playing with Legos.
But the 17 year old doesn't play with Legos anymore.
He collects them and then donates them to children in the hospital. It's for youngsters diagnosed with cancer, just like his cousin Aaron.
Dan said, "Through battling that, he is now three years cancer free, so yeah. We found out the amazing staff at Joe Dimaggio Children's Hospital and after all of the awesome things they did for us, we said if they ever needed anything, to give us a call."
That phone call is what started Dan's Lego collection called Bricks Busting Boredom, "It keeps them happy, it keeps them busy and it keeps their mind off of their illness."
For almost a year Dan has been collecting every type of Lego. "We now make Lego donation boxes to put in elementary, middle and high schools across the county to collect used Legos from all of the children there. And we've donated 250 pounds of Legos to date," he says.
His Lego empire has been gaining a lot of attention, including grant money to purchase Legos. Dan says, "I was proclaimed hometown hero from the Village Wellington News, which is very exciting. and of course the Jefferson Award which I am also very excited about."
