Breaking down on the side of a busy highway can turn into a dangerous and potentially deadly situation.
This month alone two people from our area died after on coming cars struck them.
At Kauff's Transportation Systems in West Palm Beach, Geoff Russell says tow truck drivers are always in danger on the side of the road.
However, he's more concerned for regular drivers. "They don't have all those other devices while they're on the side of the road," says Russell.
Florida Highway Patrol Sgt. Mark Wysocky says if possible always stay in your car.
"Try to pull over as far as possible so if you have to work on your car, you're off the roadway," says Sgt. Wysocky.
He also has a message for drivers. "Common courtesy. Just move over for anybody."
Russell says it's a combined effort. "Need to be part of the solution as opposed to part of the problem."
