Man dies while crossing Okeechobee Boulevard

ROYAL PALM BEACH, Fla. -- A pedestrian was killed after being struck by a vehicle while attempting to cross Okeechobee Boulevard in Royal Palm Beach early Saturday.

The Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office says 61-year-old Claude Boily of Royal Palm Beach was attempting to cross Okeechobee Boulevard east of Lakeview Drive at 1:24 a.m. and walked into the path of a vehicle.

According to a PBSO vehicle homicide report, Boily was impaired by alcohol or drugs at the time.

He was pronounced dead at the scene.

PBSO says the driver of the vehicle was not impaired.
