Suspected hit-and-run driver sought by Riviera Beach police taken into custody

UPDATE:  A suspect in a deadly hit and run in Riviera Beach has been captured, police said.

James Alexander Walker was taken into custody Friday afternoon after leaving a flight from the Bahamas at Fort Lauderdale International Airport. He is being returned to Riviera Beach for questioning, a police spokeswoman said.

Police in Riviera Beach need you help looking for man believed to be involved in a deadly hit-and-run crash.

Officers say James Alexander Walker of Jupiter may have been the behind the wheel of a rental car that killed 25- year-old Wesley Wagner almost two weeks ago.

Wagner was crossing the 6500 block of Military Trail when he was hit and killed.

Investigators identified Walker as the possible driver.  When initially questioned they say he denied driving the vehicle, being involved in the crash, or having any knowledge of it. When investigators requested a DNA sample, they say Walker wanted to consult an attorney first.

Investigators later got a DNA search warrant but haven’t found Walker to serve it.

Police say Walker told others he had planned to leave the state and may be headed to California.
