The Lobster Mini Season is a week away and local divers and fishermen are hoping the algae crisis doesn't put a damper on the booming business.

Mike Mercado at Right Hook Fishing in Riviera Beach says he's been taking calls from people out of state who are concerned about the algae plaguing our waterways affecting the popular season.

"They hear in the news there's a lot of algae," says Mercado.

He's worried those people may not want to come down next week because of what they are seeing on television and social media.

"And they're not sure how it's affecting the water as of right now. Everybody is concerned, but at least we haven't seen a huge effect. We put the information out there," said Mercado.

Several dive shops on the Treasure Coast have also received similar calls about the season next week.
