A Riviera Beach couple with six children faces multiple charges after they were found living in deplorable conditions.

Demetrius Paulk, 30, and Zekia Walker, 26, have been charged with child neglect and drug possession.

According to police, the couple's one-bedroom apartment had numerous signs of hazardous and poor living conditions.

Detectives made controlled narcotics buys at the home after receiving multiple complaints about the sale of marijuana.

Officers executed a search warrant at the couple’s home July 14.

Detectives said the home had minimal food, smelled of urine and had roaches "scattered throughout the residence found to be at all stage of life, small and big."

Confiscated from the home was a Pepsi can that had hidden compartments, which police said are frequently used to store narcotics.

Police said one of the children was observed handling a clear bag containing small baggies commonly used to package drugs for individual sale.

The children, whose ages ranged from 11 months to 8-years-old, were turned over to a family member.
