Bridging the divide was the goal behind a Sunday event seeking to bring law enforcement and the community together.
The community conversation took place at the Engrafted Word Worship Center in West Palm Beach.
Congregation members of all ages posed questions to Palm Beach County sheriff’s deputies about how to interact with law enforcement.
Organizers hope that in light of recent tragedies, conversation can make a difference.
"What are we doing wrong as a community, what are they doing wrong as officers of the law, and how can we make things better," said pastor Tammi Wilkins.
"I think there needs to be more forums like this that police are instigating, that we the community are instigating, so that we can have these types of dialogues," said Emmanuel Jenkins, who attended the meeting.
Organizers hope to see these kinds of events around the country.
