The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers has confirmed that dredging will begin early next week at the Lake Worth Inlet.

The material that’s dredged will be deposited south of the southern jetty and will extend the beach about 60 feet, according to the Army Corps.

The maintenance, including sand placement, is 100 percent federally funded, according to a news release from the government.

Dredging on this scale was last conducted in 2012, according to the Palm Beach Post, which first reported on the project.

The work will continue through mid-April.
