PALM BEACH, Fla.-- "Eat simply, so others can simply eat."

The Palm Beach County Food Bank shared that message during the 6th Annual Palm Beach Empty Bowls event. It took place today at the Church of Bethesda-by-the-Sea on Palm Beach.

The public was invited to share a simple meal of water, bread and soup made from the area's best restaurants and all served by area celebrities.

"The fact that people are going hungry, right in this abundant place is unconscionable," said Father James Harlan who serves as the church's rector. "So coming here today, we get to enjoy the community, we get to enjoy some amazing food and we get to actually make a difference and feed hungry people."

Each guest received a hand-crafted bowl to take home as a powerful reminder that hunger is a daily issue for so many in our community.

The proceeds go to the Palm Beach County Food Bank.
