Palm Beach County School District launches Facebook pages in Spanish, Creole

Posted

This month marks Florida Family Engagement Month and the Palm Beach County School District is working to get all families involved in their children's education.

Facebook users will find the school district's page in Spanish as well as Creole. It's just one way the district is making sure it reaches all parents.

Superintendent Dr. Robert Avossa says parents tend to be more involved in their child's education when they are younger, but that tends to decrease as they get to middle and high school.

Avossa said those extra conversations with your kids about what they are doing in the classroom can make a big difference in their success.

"Many of us remember our parents saying, 'What did you learn today?' and we brushed that off, but the reality is get involved when your kids do their homework, sit with them, ask questions about it and ask about their interests, it's a good way to have family time," said Avossa.
