PALM BEACH COUNTY, Fla. — Palm Beach County deputies say a man was electrocuted on Saturday while trying to get a pigeon off a power line.

According to the Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office, deputies responded to the 5600 block of Purdy Lane around 3 p.m. on March 23, and found 36-year-old Elian Garcia-Rivera unresponsive between a pigeon coop and chain link fence.

Deputies said Garcia-Rivera houses pigeons in his backyard, and was using a 20-foot aluminum pole to get a pigeon off a power line.

The pole accidentally struck the power line, and he was thrown to the ground.

Garcia-Rivera was taken to a local hospital, where he was pronounced deceased.
