A Palm Beach County man faces sexual and aggravated battery charges after the sheriff's office said he choked and bit a woman early Sunday morning.
Around 2 a.m., the sheriff's office received a 911 call from a home on Lynnwood Drive in suburban West Palm Beach.
A woman said she had been badly beaten, was having difficulty breathing and needed medical attention.
When deputies arrived, the woman said she was a victim of sexual battery and her attacker, later identified as Franklin Mari Urbina, 53, was sleeping in a red Volkswagen nearby.
The woman, who had multiple injuries to her face, arms and legs, was taken to Wellington Regional Hospital for treatment.
When deputies found Urbina, they said he wasn't wearing a shirt and had on jeans that were unbuttoned with the zipper down and open.
A sheriff's office report said the victim and Urbina met about a week ago. During a violent encounter Sunday night, Urbina is accused of beating the woman, wrapping a belt around her neck and sexually abusing her.
Urbina was taken into custody and charged with sexual assault and aggravated battery.
