Twelve-year-old Gianna Hall found a way to put those extra hotel toiletries lying around to good use.

"If you are going on vacation, if your family is going anywhere I say make sure you bring all the toiletries and everything that you get so we can use them for our care packages,” said Hall.

With the help of her grandparents, Gianna started collecting toiletries to make care packages for the homeless.

The packages include bath soaps, lotions and shower gels, among other things. Every year she donates them to The Lord’s Place and St. Ann Church in West Palm Beach.

Gianna hopes the packages will help homeless people get back on their feet and even prepare for a job interview.

"I feel like the more care packages we make and the more we give the better chance that these people that are in The Lord's Place can better themselves and prepare themselves for interviews,” said Hall.

Barbara Moody from The Lord’s Place spends countless hours handing the packages out.

"They are very happy to receive them. There's sunscreen in there, sometimes it rains, there's ponchos. They're very grateful,” said Moody.

The packages also include a handwritten note to let them know someone cares and is thinking about them during the holiday season.

"We give them a little bit of hope or find our card in their pocket one day and finally make the decision that they don't want to live there anymore or are looking from treatment,” said Moody.

Until then, Gianna says she will continue to give back in any way she can. If she finds spare change, it goes into a jar so she can make more care packages.

"When I was younger I just wanted to give back and ever since then I've been doing this and it's been a cycle ever since,” said Hall.

Gianna says sometimes the small things can be the biggest gift.

The Lord’s Placeand St. Ann Churchare always in need of donations specifically razors, socks and backpacks.
