People living in Loxahatchee and the Acreage say their lights are staying on more often.
Last fall, several dozen residents complained of constant flickers and outages.
They held a town hall meeting asking Florida Power and Light to fix the issues.
We followed up with them. Residents say they've seen a lot of improvement since.
“This area has seen a considerable improvement in our power issues,” Ken Bell said. "FP&L lived up to their promise of increased tree trimming and upgrading the equipment in this area.”
Bell says representatives came to my house to update him on their improvement program both past and future.
FPL says it’s been working on strengthening two main power lines, replacing and re-enforcing power poles and cutting hundreds of miles of trees and branches causing much of the outages.
The company says installing smart grid technology, including automated switches and fault current indicators will help prevent outages and get the lights on faster.
