Palm Beach County firefighters rescued a puppy from a fire at a family's single-family home in Loxahatchee Groves on Monday night.
Crews responded to reports of a fire on the 16000 block of 70th Street N. at 6:23 p.m., and noticed light smoke from the house.
The homeowner and Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office deputies informed them that a family pet was still inside the residence.
Fire crews located the fire in a room in the back of the home as they simultaneously performed search and rescue operations for the missing family pets.
Fighting heavy smoke and overhead flames, firefighters found the frightened puppy hiding under a bed.
They brought the puppy to safety and paramedics administered oxygen.
A PBSO deputy transported the puppy to a local animal hospital for treatment.
No people were injured and the cause of the fire is under investigation.
