The streets of downtown Lake Worth were full of people Sunday showing off their pride.
The annual Pride Parade of the Palm Beaches, one of the largest LGBT events in South Florida, kicked off at 11:30 a.m.
Local advocacy group Compass put on the parade and accompanying Pridefest activities at Bryant Park.
Organizers said the goal is to raise awareness and acceptance of the LGBTQ community by highlighting the importance of diversity.
New this year, officers from the Palm Beach County School District Police Department marched in the parade for the first time.
Organizers said it is important to show there is unity in law enforcement.
"The school police department does support you and we want to be out here and if you need help. We are someone you can come and find support with," said Jen Garson with the School District Police Department.
The department put a picture of its badge in rainbow colors on its social media networks. Officers marched with the Gay-Straight Alliance from Palm Beach Gardens High School.
A post on Facebook says officers are marching to show support for LGBTQ students.
