10-year-old Bitty, a teacup yorkie chihuahua mix has been reunited with her owners after being picked up by a stranger from her driveway. The incident happened on September 18 in Lake Worth Beach.

A neighbor’s surveillance camera shows a car slowing stopping near the 3.5 lb. dog before picking her up and driving away.

According to the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office (PBSO) the person who picked up Bitty thought she was a stray.

“People were about to hand her off to someone else so we could have ended up losing her for good,” said Missy Watts.

For a couple weeks Missy Watts and Jean Haun have been anxiously hoping they would find Bitty. They posted to Facebook hoping someone online knew something.

“We couldn’t stop crying,” said Haun.

PBSO says it was able to track down the dog due to a camera picking up the license plate number of the car that took her. She was found in Miami and returned to her owners on October 4th.

“It was truly a surprise we had no idea we were going to have her home,” said Watts.

PBSO says the person responsible will not face any criminal charges since its believed they thought the dog was abandoned and the dog has since been returned without issues.
