PALM BEACH COUNTY, Fla. — A home healthcare aide is accused of stealing more than $50,000 worth of jewelry from an elderly couple he was supposed to be caring for.

According to his arrest report, 30-year-old Collin Dixon had been an aide for 84-year-old Seymour Chauncey and 81-year-old Marcia Chauncey for five months at their suburban Lake Worth home.

The Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office said during that time, Dixon stole a variety of jewelry from the couple, including a diamond engagement ring valued at $20,000, a wedding band, as well as several gold pendants, earrings, and chains.

The total value of the jewelry was $51,800, deputies said.

PSBO said Dixon pawned eight of those items on March 5 at La Familia Pawn and Jewelry, located at 2304 S. Military Trail, and received $1,100. The actual value of those items was $19,800.

A store manager at the pawn shop provided detectives with tickets for the transactions, which had Dixon's fingerprints, according to his arrest report.

The Chaunceys identified Dixon through a surveillance image from the pawn shop.

Detectives said Dixon returned to the business on March 8 and tried to pawn a diamond engagement ring, but the store manager denied him. That manager said Dixon had a child with him, possibly one or two years old.

Dixon is facing multiple charges including larceny, dealing in stolen property, and making false statements.
