The Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office confirms that a 21-year old man died of an accidental self-inflicted gunshot wound early Friday morning.
The incident happened outside a home in the Lake Charleston community where a group of young adults and teenagers were having a party.
Neighbors say there have been parties happening at that home off Michigan Isles Road for more than a week. Those related to the adult homeowner say the man was out of the country at the time of the incident.
"The past week, there's been a party going on-- a constant late night party. A lot of cars lining the block here on both sides of the street," said neighbor, Rick Sanchez.
But Sanchez said he never expected there were guns involved at the parties.
For much of the day Friday, neighbors were under the impression that the victim was shot by another person. It wasn't until late Friday that PBSO released the news that it was self inflicted.
"It's very surprising in this neighborhood. It's a very quiet neighborhood, a nice community out here," Sanchez said.
PBSO will release the name of the victim once his family is notified.
