The International Coastal Cleanup has been uniting people around the globe for three decades. The annual event takes place again this weekend with more than a hundred countries scheduled to take part.

Here in South Florida, cleanups will take place from Boca Raton to all the way up the Treasure Coast.

Local non profits organizations, like Friends of the Palm Beaches and Keep Palm Beach County Beautiful, say especially after Hurricane Dorian, the problem of plastic pollution isn’t going anywhere.

With the Gulf Stream not being too far away, South Floridians get a front seat to how severe the pollution is.

“It’s a great thing to see the light bulbs go off with the kids because the kids are inheriting this, and they are the ones who are going to save us,” says President of the Friends of Palm Beach Diane Buhler.
