A commanding victory Tuesday night for Brian Mast, who defeated five other candidates in the Republican primary. Among them, Rebecca Negron, wife of State Senator Joe Negron.

Mast, who lost both of his legs in an IED explosion, said he wasn't done fighting for this country.
"I'm not going to let the best defense I give our country be something in my past. I would find another battlefield to fight on and that battlefield would be Washington, D.C.," he said.
Mast thanked his opponents who said they made him a better candidate with a better understanding of the issues that face the district like the algae crisis.

There were some protestors outside his victory party concerned that Mast had accepted money from the Sugar industry.
Mast insisted during a candidate debate on NewsChannel 5's To The Point last week that he had given back every dollar.
Mast will now face Randy Perkins in the November election.
