TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (AP) -- President Barack Obama and Vice President Joe Biden are backing U.S. Rep. Patrick Murphy over Congressman Alan Grayson in Florida's Democratic Senate primary.
The campaign announced the endorsement Wednesday. It's a big boost for Murphy in a race that's become contentious.
Biden also plans to campaign with Murphy on March 28.
Grayson has criticized Murphy for being a former Republican and voting with the GOP on key issues. But Murphy has lined up a long list of endorsements from party leaders in Florida and Washington.
Murphy has repeatedly pointed out that Grayson is being investigated by the House Ethics Committee over questions raised by a hedge fund he manages.
Grayson has lashed out at his own party, saying the "UnDemocratic Party" is run by corrupt, mendacious, sellout losers.
