A new poll by Quinnipiac University shows the race for the White House in a dead heat.
Tim Malloy with the Quinnipiac University poll, says the gap between Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump has closed in recent weeks.
"Back in August 25, Donald Trump was behind by ten points. Now, it's five.
The polling was done when Clinton was ill and talked of Trump supporters as "deplorables."
Did that hurt her?
"Don't know and can't say but it does tell you how volatile this is and can turn on a dime in a week and that's what happened last week," said Malloy, a former Newschannel 5 anchor.
Malloy went on to say the unpredictability of this race will place added importance on the presidential debates, the first one later this month.
You can watch our complete interview with Malloy on "To The Point" this Sunday at 10 a.m., after Meet the Press.
