WPTV's Legal Analyst Michelle Suskauer was in New York when Tuesday's truck attack occurred and had a first hand account of the aftermath.

As the chaos unfolded in Manhattan,  Suskauer had just wrapped up filming for the “Dr Oz” show in the upper west side. Immediately she knew something significant happened when she turned her phone on.

“Everyone thinks New Yorkers are so tough, but people we visibly distressed, very upset,” said Suskauer.

She was departing the area from the Newark airport, where security was tight and passengers were glued to their smartphones simply shaking their head.

She had to fight gridlock to get to the airport after the attack.

“Traffic was diverted … much heavier than you would expect to try and to get out of the city, very very difficult. It took twice as long,” said Suskauer.

The entire city was gridlocked with one section blocked off, leaving diverted traffic at a standstill. It was a departure Suskauer will never forget, including a day where she marked herself safe on her Facebook page to calm nerves from worried friends and family.
