PITTSBURGH — (WPXI/NBC) - A burglar received a big surprise when he broke into a Pennsylvania jewelry store and didn’t find any jewelry!
The video was taken early Tuesday morning inside Henne's Jewelry store in Pittsburgh.
The burglar smashed open the glass door with a crowbar and ran inside. But one problem: he can't find any jewelry! That's because all of it is put away when the store closes, locked up inside a vault overnight after a similar incident years ago.
"You could even see his reaction when he saw there is nothing in the case is a little disappointed," said store owner John Henne. “About 10 years ago … someone drove a car through the front door to try to get some jewelry … since then we don't leave anything whatsoever not even a sterling silver necklace anywhere in the store."
Police arrived within minutes but not in time to catch the intruder.
Henne is offering a $1,000 reward for information that leads to the culprit.
