US to pause troop pullout from Afghanistan

Posted at 2:49 PM, Mar 24, 2015

The United States will not cut down the number of troops stationed in Afghanistan as early as expected, the White House announced Tuesday according to The Associated Press

The original plan had the United States cutting troops stationed in Afghanistan from 9,800 to 5,500 by the end of 2015. But the new plan will keep the 9,800 troops there through the end of the year.

The decision comes after Afghan President Ashraf Ghani asked for the slowdown, according to AP.
