Cheerleaders for professional sports teams in California will now be considered employees and must earn at least minimum wage.
A bill to this effect was signed into law by California Governor Jerry Brown on Wednesday.
Prior to the bill's passage, professional cheerleaders completed mandatory practices and appearances that were unpaid.
