HOUSTON (AP) -- Houston police say two children were found dead under a neighbor's house and that their mother told an acquaintance she drowned them in a bathtub.
Houston police spokesman Kese Smith said Sunday the 30-year-old mother was in custody but not yet charged. He says "all indications" are she acted alone in killing her 7-year-old son and 5-year-old daughter.
Smith says the woman first apparently tried burying the children but placed them under a neighbor's house when that proved too difficult. Investigators were still trying to determine a motive.
Smith says the mother was throwing away trash in a field Sunday when a man she knew pulled up in a truck. Smith says she told the man she was moving and "matter of factly" informed him she killed her children.
