The White House has notified the Senate that President Barack Obama vetoed an $8 billion Keystone XL pipeline bill, as expected.

The White House indicated Monday that the president didn't plan on "a lot of drama or fanfare" for the veto of legislation that would approve the Keystone XL pipeline.

Republican leaders held off on sending the bill to the White House. The bill was initially signed by Congress over a week ago.

According to The Hill, White House Press Secretary Josh Earnest chided Republicans for holding off on sending the bill.
