Nepal earthquake death toll surges to more than 7,500

The number of people killed in a catastrophic earthquake in Nepal on April 25 is now 7,557.

Nepalese officials announced the toll Tuesday morning, as aid continued rolling in to the ravaged country. The aid operation involved more than 131,000 police and military personnel.

The 7.8-magnitude earthquake is the deadliest to strike Nepal in 80 years. According to the National Emergency Operation Centre, at least 14,500 people were injured.
