Posted

The original marker for Marilyn Monroe's grave sold at a June 27 auction for $212,500.

According to Julien's Auctions, the grave marker from Westwood Village Memorial Park Cemetery in Los Angeles was estimated to sell at $2,000 to $4,000.

The marker was replaced with one that has been on Monroe's crypt for decades. It was sold by an employee of the cemetery who obtained it when the newer one replaced it in the 1970s, according to Juliens.

The buyer is an overseas bidder and has not been named.
