Bloomingdale's has apologized for an ad in its 2015 holiday catalog that caused an uproar online this week.
The ad show's shows a woman laughing, looking away from a man who is apparently looking at her. Between the two models, a block of text reads: "Spike your best friend's eggnog when they're not looking."
Social media users decried the ad for its suggestion of a possible date rape scenario. In a story about the ad, Huffington Post called it "super creepy."
After the backlash, Bloomingdales took to Twitter to apologize. In the tweet, a company official admitted the ad was "inappropriate and in poor taste."
We heard your feedback about our catalog copy, which was inappropriate and in poor taste. Bloomingdale's sincerely apologizes.
