After three decades of hosting a late-night television show, comedian David Letterman is retiring.
"The David Letterman Show" debuted in 1982 on NBC and was canceled after just six months. Executives liked Letterman enough that they kept him with the network and gave him a show called "Late Night" that aired after "The Tonight Show With Johnny Carson."
Letterman moved to CBS and the "Late Show With David Letterman" began airing in 1993, where it stayed. Letterman's final episode of the "Late Show" airs Wednesday, May 20.
