(KPRC, CNN NEWSOURCE) It was a disturbing discovery for Janna Nguwen on the side a road in northwest Houston.
“My daughter was like, ‘mom there's a dog.’ And I looked and the dog in between all the trash. Laying (sic) there with duct tape bleeding,” Nguwen said.
A helpless German shepherd was found barely moving. It was likely left for dead near Kurkenduyl and Ella Monday afternoon.
Nguwen flagged down an officer to help the scared dog all the while still shaken by the scene. “Tried to help him and stuff, I was crying. It was really hard to see. Crying really bad.”
“It is a very bad situation when a dog is done in this manner or any animal,” said Pct. 4 Constable Mark Herman.
SPCA officers also quickly made it to the scene to care for the dog and took her to the vet to be worked on.
“The status on this dog is pretty critical at this point. She's got some severe injuries, she's overheated,” said Pct. 1 Constable Christine Kendrick.
They have taken the dog to do some surgery and see if they can save the dog, but it's our understanding she's in bad shape,” said Herman.
Once cleared, the hope was that the dog could be nursed back to health and put up for adoption to a go to a good home.
Sadly, the dog had to be euthanized due to the extent of her injuries.
