(WHAG) Security video from a 7-Eleven store in Frederick County, Maryland shows an employee grabbing the end of a would-be robber's rifle and yanking it out of the suspect's hands.
Joseph Layman admits he wasn't sure he would live through the experience, but says he wanted to fight for his life.
"The last thing that went through my mind is he could still shoot me even if I give him the money, so that's why I reacted the way I did," Layman says.
Layman's family says they're grateful he's alive and proud of his actions.
After working at 7-Eleven for five years, Layman has been promoted to night manager.
