Cheese-filled tractor-trailer looted, tons gone

Posted

Several tons of shredded mozzarella cheese — $85,000 worth — was stolen from a tractor-trailer Sunday in Marion County, Florida.

That’s enough cheese for tens of thousands of pizzas, the Ocala Star-Banner reports, and perhaps a few really good calzones.

The refrigerated trailer, which has a Michigan license plate, was left by the driver at a truck lot for a mechanic to work on it. A hauler was also taken, which police believe was used to pilfer the trailer.

The cheese was destined for a Hungry Howie’s Pizza distribution center, the Associated Press reports. Presumably, Howie will stay hungry.
